Quick Start

Your First Story

To create your first story:

1. Log into Red Quill.
2. On any page, click the "Create" button (web) or large "+" button (mobile).
3. In the window under "What's your story about?", type a few sentences. If you are at a loss, you can try something as simple as "A man meets a mysterious woman in a bar, and she invites him home, promising to show him a good time."
4. In the window that opens, click the line of text to the right of the "+ Add" button (it will say something like "Standard" and "Auto"
5. That will open a new window. Set Spice to "Spicy" (3 peppers)
6. Set Length to "Standard"
7. Set Writer to "Standard"
8. Leave Visibility on "Unlisted"
9. Ignore the other options right now. Click outside that window and make sure your settings saved (Standard Standard)
10. Click "Create Story". The white oval with "5" is the number of quills that will be used by this generate.
11. Now just wait! You will see some text saying that it is generating your story. On the right hand side there is a circle with a pencil in it next to a circle with three dots. When the pencil turns white, the chapter is done generating. Now you can read it, edit it, or do whatever.

Adding a Cover

You can add an image to your story to act as a book cover. To do this, at the top of your finished story is a button that says "Add Cover". If you don't see it for some reason, you can click the pencil icon next to the story title, opening the Story Info Panel, where you can also create a cover.

If you have an image already, you can click "upload" and browse to the file. It must be less than 5 MB in size and in one of the following formats:

• JPG
• JFIF
• JPEG
• PJPEG
• PJP
• PNG
• WEBP
• GIF

Note that nudity, gore, or underage characters are not allowed in covers.

Publishing Your Story

If you want to share your story, just click on the pencil icon next to the story title. This will open the Story Info Panel. At the top of the window is a large red button that says "Publish". Clicking this button will open another window telling you to check some options. From there you can change the story name, the description, and the tags. Once that is done, click "Publish". Assuming your story does not contain strong elements of gore, non-consensual interactions, and no underage characters it should be published and available for anyone on the site (or the web) to read!
